Who Benefits from your Zakat?

SheBenefitsLife for a little girl or boy in Aleppo, Syria means casting a fearful eye skyward at the frightful sound of helicopter blades bringing bombs to rain indiscriminately on tightly packed apartment buildings. They haven’t much food except what Mercy-USA trucks in monthly from neighboring Turkey; life-saving staples to keep little bodies growing in anticipation of peaceful days, insha’Allah.

Bare feet on concrete floors brought winter chills that didn’t leave until Mercy-USA donors made last year’s unusually harsh winter in Syria better for 10,000 children in Northern Syria with new coats, winter clothing and boots.

The need doesn’t end in Syria, or with the thousands of refugee families we serve in Lebanon with medical, nutrition and sanitation relief aid there. Mercy-USA works around the world offering relief and development in Asia, Eastern Europe and Africa.

Devastating floods and landslides in Bosnia left hundreds of thousands homeless last May.  Your Zakat will help them begin to rebuild their lives—our relief team has been in Bosnia since 1994, and will remain long after the headlines fade from our memory.

Mercy-USA has already brought safe water to communities with over 525, 000 people in Somalia where the infant mortality rate is one of the highest in the world. A leading cause of death among children under five is from contaminated water. There are hundreds of thousands who still need clean water in Somalia; your Zakat can make that happen.

Mercy-USA education projects in Albania, Bangladesh, Gaza, and Lebanon are helping youth with access to books and materials, instruction, nutrition and vocational training for a brighter future for thousands of students.

Agricultural development projects in the Balkans and Indonesia are helping communities rise above sustenance farming for better opportunities for generations to come.
