Your Zakat Can Change Lives
“The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be their charity.”
Prophet Muhammadﷺ was the best among us as a living example of charitable giving to those in need.
While we all have struggled with the pandemic in this past year, many of our brothers and sisters in other countries seldom have the luxury of masks, hand sanitizer and social distancing when they’re focused on the hard fact that they lack enough to eat, a roof over their heads, a decent education for their children or medical care if anyone in the family gets sick.
Your Zakat given to Mercy-USA provides help to these families who struggle every day but never without hope for Allah’s Grace.
Mercy-USA has been distributing your Zakat with care and integrity for 33 years!
More than 97% of donations to Mercy-USA go directly to the programs you designate. We are careful to keep our fundraising expenses at less than 3% of our total budget.
These are just some examples of what your Zakat can do…
Food Aid Mercy-USA distributes food aid to families struggling to survive due to war, as in Syria where our supporters and institutional partners have been making it possible to feed more than 250,000 people each month.
Education Mercy-USA supports education for children and young adults around the world. We built and support a secondary school in Sindh, Pakistan. We stock public school libraries in Albania with new books each year. We have free after-school English and computer training in Albania and Bosnia.
Healthcare Mercy-USA provides free healthcare to children and their families in Somalia, Syria and Lebanon. In Syria, we operate a stationary healthcare center and mobile medical clinics in IDP camps located far from other health facilities.
We run a mobile medical unit in Lebanon to serve the healthcare needs of Syrian refugees and their Lebanese host families.
Our mother and child health programs in Somalia treat tens of thousands of patients each year providing pre- and post-natal care, as well as birthing services. We have nutrition centers around the country as well as numerous TB treatment centers.
Clean Water Since 1997, Mercy-USA has played a vital role in providing safe drinking water in Somalia, digging and repairing over 700 wells. Communities with a combined population of over 750,000 persons are benefiting from this project which is one of the best ways to give your Zakat or Sadaqah Jariyah. Each well for a community is $3,500. You can pay it in one lump sum, or spread out your payments throughout the year.
Agriculture The work of rebuilding communities after war or natural disasters requires years of focused dedication. Mercy-USA’s agriculture programs provide modern and innovative technical assistance plus the inputs and tools needed to start up, strengthen resiliency to climate change and improve yields. Projects like helping farmers grow fodder to keep their herds strong and healthy or technical support to wheat farmers, or supplying livestock to build a farmer’s capacity are just a few of the projects we believe will build a sustainable future.
This Ramadan, Give Like the Prophetﷺ–Give From Your Heart.
