Ameenah’s Ramadan Story

AmeenahMeet Ameenah and her three younger brothers, Yacoub, Abed and Muhammed from Aleppo, Syria. Their father was killed by a sniper’s bullet, and recently their mother has been kidnapped, and her whereabouts are unknown. The children now live with their elderly grandmother and subsist on cleaning and trimming okra from a local farmer to sell in the city. Thankfully, the monthly food basket from Mercy-USA helps the family survive each month. Ameenah told us, “I know I can’t see my father in this life, but I miss my mother and only want to embrace her again.”
Your zakat during this blessed month will help Ameenah and her little brothers survive in what has been dubbed the world’s most dangerous city, Aleppo.

ZakatUlFitr1Header2015Eid ul-Fitr should be a time of great joy and laughter for children and their parents, a day filled with good food, gifts and laughter, but when you’re a Rohingya child who has just escaped horrific trauma, or a Syrian child living under constant threat of bombs dropping overhead, or a Palestinian refugee living in very poor conditions in Lebanon, there isn’t much to celebrate except being alive, alhamdoulillah.

Your donation of $25 per family will also provide the children with the happiness of Eid, parties and gifts and insha’Allah, some laughter and smiles. Celebration and toys can give a child a therapeutic break from the almost daily heartache and frightening experiences. This gift also carries emotional benefits for the mothers and fathers who have not been able to give their children anything more than survival. Imagine, for many, like those we’re helping, being on the run with nothing more than their lives and the clothes on their backs.

$25 for a family isn’t much for us in the West,
but it can make a huge difference on Eid for those children who have much less.

Reminder: Your Zakat ul-Fitr at $10 per family member is due before the Eid prayer.

Please donate your Zakat and Zakat ul-Fitr today.
