Clean Water Since
1997

Somalia’s worsening drought has devastated communities, leaving millions without reliable access to clean water. Families are left to rely on unsafe sources, increasing the risk of waterborne diseases like cholera and dysentery. The impact is particularly harsh on children, whose health and development suffer without clean drinking water.

Mercy-USA has been working in Somalia since 1997 to address this crisis, rehabilitating and building over 800 wells, bringing clean water to over 750,000 people. These wells reduce the time and effort spent fetching water, allowing children—especially girls—to attend school and families to focus on rebuilding their lives.
