5K/10K Safe Water Challenge for Somalia

 Somalia is one of the most climate-vulnerable and drought stricken countries in the world with only a third of Somali families having access to clean drinking water. For over 30 years, Mercy-USA has had a presence in Somalia, providing clean water, sanitation, healthcare, education, food aid, emergency relief, and seasonal food aid across the country. Through the digging and repairing of 800 wells since 1997, the work of our Safe Water Project has been instrumental in improving the lives of over 750,000 people. You can be a part of this vital work too! Every step we take together leads to a future where safe drinking water is a reality for all Somali families.

Our wells are funded by private donations. There are many ways you can be a part of the race to provide clean water access in Somalia!

When you set a goal on the runsignup website, you will be given a personalized fundraising page. By sharing this page to your friends and family, you can enlist their help in this noble work!
The top three individual fundraisers will be recognized at the closing ceremonies of the event!

Vendors Wanted!

SMALL BUSINESS VENDORS: Do you own a small business in Detroit? You can reserve a booth to sell your products and services during this community event! $150 registration fee includes a tent, table and two chairs during the event. All dry vendors must be registered with the Detroit Parks and Recreation Division as “licensed Vendors” prior to the event. Please let us know if you need help setting this up. No cottage food sales are allowed (home-made foods).

FOOD TRUCKS AND TENTS Reach a hungry and thirsty crowd during this fun 5K/10K run for a good cause! $250.00 reserves your spot at the run event. All food trucks and food vendors must be registered with the Detroit Parks and Recreation Division as “licensed Vendors” prior to the event. Please let us know if you need help setting this up.
