MUSLIM VOLUNTEERS TO RELIEVE CHRISTIAN VOLUNTEERS ON CHRISTMAS EVE AT MANNA COMMUNITY MEAL SOUP KITCHEN

MUSLIM VOLUNTEERS TO RELIEVE CHRISTIAN VOLUNTEERS ON CHRISTMAS EVE AT MANNA COMMUNITY MEAL SOUP KITCHEN

December 20, 2018

DETROIT, MI: For the second year, Mercy-USA for Aid and Development has organized a team of Muslim volunteers to relieve Christian volunteers on Christmas Eve when the soup kitchen at St Peter’s Episcopal Church, (co-sponsored by St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church) serves a hot meal for up to 200 homeless and vulnerable people.

“We’ve had no trouble rallying volunteers this year. Enthusiastic members of Detroit area Muslim youth groups are excited to help cook and serve their neighbors a hot meal while giving the regularManna Community Meal volunteers this important day off to prepare for their own family’s Christmas Eve,” says Kayla Botelho, Mercy-USA Development Coordinator.

The soup kitchen is located through the red door on the lower level of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at 1950 Trumbull Ave, Detroit. Volunteers will be working from 6:00 am to 11:30 am on December 24th. Kayla Botelho is organizing the relief volunteers on behalf of Mercy-USA and can be reached at 734-454-0011.
