Orphaned and At-Risk Youth and Young Adult Training and Mentorship
From 2010 to 2025, Mercy-USA for Aid and Development provided three-month computer office software training courses to orphans and other at-risk teens and young adults in the Tuzla Canton of Bosnia. In addition to the technical training these young people received, they were mentored by caring Mercy-USA staff members who taught essential life skills that served the students as they entered adulthood. Mercy-USA mentors provided character development training that nurtured the whole child and taught the values of honesty, hard work, and integrity. This character training encouraged the at-risk youth and young adults to avoid criminal responses to hardship, and gave them confidence to join the workplace after their schooling was completed. The trainees were also provided with a nutritious meal or snack during each class; the extra nutrition provided helped them to stay motivated and focused on their training.
